Zero-Order Switching Networks and Their Applications to Power Factor Correction in Switching Converters
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper addresses the requirements of networks containing linear inductors, capacitors and ideal switches for synthesis of zero-order input impedance. Sufficient conditions for achieving zero-order input impedance are stated in terms of the network topology and the switching sequence. Such networks have direct practical relevance to power factor correction (PFC). Based on zero-order switching networks, a comprehensive study is presented for many existing PFC circuits as well as new circuit topologies.

Conventional energy sources are fast depleting due to poor conservation practises and excessive usage while the world’s energy demands are growing by minute. Additionally, the cost of producing conventional energy is rising also leading to an increase in harmful environmental pollution. Hence, there is a need to look at alternative energy sources such as sun, water and wind. Photovoltaic (PV) i...

One of the difficulties with PWM switching converters is high switching loss and electromagnetic interference due to switching at non-zero voltage and current, which limits the operating frequency. In order to reduce the converter volume and weight (by increasing the frequency) and reducing switching losses, zero voltage and current switching methods are recommended. In this paper, four main ze...

متن کاملA High Efficiency Low-Voltage Soft Switching DC–DC Converter for Portable Applications
This paper presents a novel control method to improve the efficiency of low-voltage DC-DC converters at light loads. Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) converters have poor efficiencies at light loads, while pulse frequency modulation (PFM) control is more efficient for the same cases. Switching losses constitute a major portion of the total power loss at light loads. To decrease the switching losses...

This paper presents a new family of pulsewidthmodulated (PWM) converters, featuring soft commutation of the semiconductors at zero current (ZC) in the transistors and zero voltage (ZV) in the rectifiers. Besides operating at constant frequency and with reduced commutation losses, these new converters have output characteristics similar to the hard-switchingPWM counterpart, which means that ther...
